Become an Ambassador

Meet the WNA Ambassador Team

The citizenship ambassador program was developed by One America’s WNA (Washington New American’s) program, a program dedicated to citizenship accessibility here in the state of WA. The ambassador program serves as an access point for our community leaders to participate in promoting citizenship through their own immigrant experience, help demystify the naturalization process and share the life changing impact of U.S citizenship and civic engagement. The program is designed to empower our community leaders to inspire their communities to take action and leverage their voices for a better, more inclusive, fair and thriving home here in our state.

Julisa Aguilar

Julisa joined the ambassador program in March 2024. She heard about the ambassador program after enquiring about her mother who is eligible to be a citizen. She is also an E.I student and is eager to learn and grow. She has volunteered at our Yakima CD event, been in endorsements and voter registration events.

I am Julisa Aguilar, I have 3 children and I come from the city of Auburn. I was very interested in the ambassadors’ program because I would like to see our community improve, become citizens and participate more in our government so we can all have fairer laws for all immigrants and so that we are able to give our children a more inclusive and accepting future one that accepts our language and our different cultures. – Julisa

Ana Maria Moreno

Ana is a passionate Yakima community member, she serves on the board of her union job and works very hard to fight for fair laws that benefit the immigrant community. Ana has worked so hard to support her community, by helping to door knock for GOTV events and phone banks. She has also taken roles in our endorsements and recently came over from Yakima for our tabling event in Auburn to register people to vote!

Hello my name is Ana Maria Moreno and I use the pronoun she. I am originally from the state of Sinaloa. I have been in Washington state for over 30 years and I am the mother of 4 daughters and 1 son, I am also a grandmother of 10 grandchildren. I am very happy to be part of the ambassadors with the WNA program because I like to provide information to our entire Hispanic community since there are many who do not have the correct information on how they can participate in our community to be able to make a change. We can make a change and with the help of WNA we can achieve it, it is time for our voice to be heard. My community matters to me, our future matters to me. Yes, we can! Yes, we can! Thank you to WNA for this great opportunity you give me and thank you to all the colleagues for being part of WNA, let’s go girls! – Ana Maria

Brenda L. Morgan

Brenda is an amazing leader and WNA volunteer. She is passionate, motivated, and driven. I met Brenda at the WNA naturalization workshop in Yakima in April of 2024 and after having a conversation with her I knew she would be perfect for the ambassador team! She has taken a role in our endorsements, volunteered at our clinics and more!

Hello, my name is Brenda Lisset Morgan. I use she/her/ella pronouns and I am from Pasco WA. I Heard about the Washington New Americans program back in 2023 when I was invited by a member of my union (SEIU775) to help volunteer and also learn about what citizenship day was with WNA. As I volunteered, my husband was in the process of doing his documentation with the help of Washington New Americans on October 31st of 2023. I’m excited to say that my husband is now officially a US citizen, thanks to the help of everyone that participated in the citizenship day event! Ever since then I’ve made it a goal for me to volunteer and learn more about how I can make a difference and help others. I have been a care provider for over 21 years so I find it in my nature to want to help others, I feel sharing beneficial information on topics such as immigration, becoming a citizen, voting and basic rights we all should have as humans in this nation is important not only to our #raza but their families and friends. During my second year of volunteering with WNA I met Gaby, which I am thankful to her for inviting me to be part of the ambassador program. I am confident that everything we learn we can share in our communities. Demonstrating to others that their voce matters in every aspect, it helps support beneficial change and allows inclusion and visibility of not just one culture but many. – Brenda

Lilia Romero

I met Lilia at our WNA citizenship day in February of 2024 where we were both volunteering. Lilia became a citizen through the WNA program and has been volunteering ever since. She is passionate about her community and is always looking for different ways to help and get the word out about things that can benefit her community.

My name is Lilia Romero, I am from the state of Jalisco and I live in the city of Kent. I am a mom of 3 young adults and I arrived in this wonderful state of Washington in 1999, from that date until today I have seen how the Hispanic community has grown here in this state and I have always wanted to help my community in programs by volunteering and trying to help and give information as correct as possible. The WNA Ambassador Project has helped me meet more people and has also given me the opportunity to give back a little bit of what they helped me. Through the WNA program I obtained my citizenship and they guided me very well from the beginning. I want to continue passing on the message, to be that chain of information and love with my community so that more people benefit from this program and that we also have more voice and voters. – Lilia

Coming from immigrant parents and being married to an immigrant I found a lot of difficulties navigating through the systems. With the resources that I have gathered while navigating through those tough systems I wish to now help others. I also want to empower our Latino women because I believe that it is important that we support and help eachother. – Dora Poqui
