For our regularly-scheduled Citizenship Days and Roving Clinics, we seek volunteers for all roles (Attorneys/DOJ-Accredited Representatives, Form Completers, Interpreters and General volunteers).

All our services are currently remote. Volunteers will be requested to serve applicants remotely using online tools like Citizenshipworks and Zoom. Attorney
Attorneys meet one-on-one with clients to determine eligibility for naturalization, answer questions, review applications for accuracy, and provide further instructions for follow up or filing. Attorneys may also review the work of other attorneys during client check out. To volunteer as an attorney you must:
- Be a licensed immigration attorney
- Have been in practice for at least two years
- Have completed at least five (5) N-400 applications over the course of those two years, AND
- Have malpractice insurance
If you would like to volunteer as an attorney, but do not fulfill the minimum requirements, you may still be able to volunteer. General Event Support
General volunteers, as directed by the Site Coordinator, help with set up / take down of the facility, signage, client intake, routing of clients through the facility, copying and assembling documents, answering non-legal questions, passing out information, and helping with food and drinks for volunteers.

Interpreter

Interpreters provide verbatim interpretation between clients and the paralegals, attorneys, and other volunteer staff. Interpreters ensure clients and paralegals/attorneys understand each other and the contents of all forms and documents needed for naturalization. Interpreters CANNOT provide legal advice except as direct translation of advice given by an attorney.

Form Completion
Form Completers meet one on one with clients to help fill out N-400 (naturalization) and I-912 (fee waiver) applications. Form Completers CANNOT provide legal advice. This is a great role for certified paralegals as well as attorneys and law students seeking to gain experience in immigration law.

Can you stay the whole day?
We request volunteers come in at 8:30 and stay until 5:30 pm* Departure times are variable depending on client needs.
If you cannot stay for the whole day, please tell us what times you are available?
We hope all our volunteers can volunteer the whole day, but we also understand you may have to leave earlier. Please let us know until what time your are able to stay.

By completing this form, I commit to attending the Citizenship Day indicated below. In the event I become unable to attend, I will give 48-hours advance notice. I understand training attendance is mandatory for all new volunteers as well as veteran volunteers who have not attended a training in the past year. If I am fulfilling the volunteer attorney role, I certify I have a valid State Bar License, two years of immigration experience, and have completed at least five N-400 (naturalization) applications (or I received prior approval to volunteer in this role without meeting these requirements).
