OneAmerica is a non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to building power in immigrant and refugee communities. We believe our democracy is stronger when everyone gets to vote and participate. That’s why every year we host a free Citizenship Day in Moses Lake to help eligible legal permanent residents become citizens.

During this one-day workshop, we bring together a team of volunteer immigration attorneys, paralegals, and interpreters to help legal permanent residents (“green-card holders”) who are interested in becoming citizens. Our volunteers understand how stressful this process can be and how important it is to get trustworthy legal advice. Since the program began in 2008, we’ve helped over 3,000 people apply for citizenship.
What to Expect at a Citizenship Day Workshop
Bring your legal permanent resident card, and all the documents listed on this page. Any U.S. immigration documents you have – such as copies of past applications to obtain or renew your green card, or U.S. immigration court papers, are important to bring as well.
Who Can Attend Citizenship Day?
Our Citizenship Day events are open to legal permanent residents who have had their green cards for at least 5 years, or 3 years if married to a U.S. citizen. Many of our volunteers are bilingual. If you will need an interpreter at the event, please contact us ahead of time so we can ensure to have a volunteer who speaks your language.
Community Resources & More Information
If you can’t attend our next citizenship day, don’t worry. You can receive the same assistance at little to no cost at a nonprofit immigration services provider – find one near you here, and make an appointment. Or, you can contact a trusted immigration attorney near you. We also recommend CitizenshipWorks, a safe, free online tool that helps you begin filling out the application for citizenship yourself.
